Bonnie Bernstein

Bonnie Bernstein is currently one of the hosts of the Michael Kay show on ESPN 1050 in New York City, and one of my inspirations in the business. She was the first woman to be a sideline reporter at the Super Bowl on CBS television and Westwood One radio. I’ve received an autographed picture from her, and been lucky enough to have her listen to my demo and give me career advice. But let’s put that aside for a moment.

Over the years Bonnie has been one of the best sideline reporters covering the Final Four and the Super Bowl for CBS.  She also was a college football sideline reporter for ESPN/ABC and hosted numerous shows, plus guest hosting on Jim Rome is Burning. Bonnie had a health scare in Dallas after covering a Texas Oklahoma game, and today she is a patient advocate for Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), traveling around the country to hospitals educate people about this treatable medical condition. You can find out more about Bonnie’s story and DVT at PreventDVT.org.  This forced her to leave the sidelines for the studio and hosting duties.

Bonnie Bernstein could be hosting the New York Jets pregame show on radio or an interview show on television. I’ve always wanted to meet her in person, but with no trip to Pittsburgh currently on her schedule perhaps this blog could be the catalyst to meet her.
