When I heard that I’ll Have Another will not race at the Belmont Stakes and denying horse racing fans at a Triple Crown I couldn’t believe it.   He suffered tendonitis, and track veterinarian said the injury was slow healing 3 to 6 months recovery time.  If he tried to race there was chance of a bowed tendon, and Trainer Doug O’Neill announce that he will not race in the Belmont and retire from horse racing.   The horse’s safety was more important than the race.       The owners will make money on the horse retiring to stud, but the disappointment of no Triple Crown for another year is devastating  Frustrating due to the fact there has not been a Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.  The sport would be on the front page of every newspaper and lead story on every sportscast.   Sports are about moments you can never forget, and this Saturday would have been one of those.
